Media pioneers Joe Kwong and Jeff Fino began their journey in game design after winning an American History & Civics Initiative grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in 2007. The success of their games led to a variety of other projects – with new subject matter and new communities – all of which led to the founding of Nuvana in 2010. From history to science, from corporate training to college preparedness… from elementary schoolers to university students, from at-risk teens to adults in business environments – the Nuvana game engine has been applied in myriad ways.
In 2011, Nuvana’s science game, InterroBang, was named one of five finalists in the Best Education Game category at the Games for Change Festival. And in 2012, the company is releasing the Nuvana MVP, the first off-the-shelf, DIY tool that enables any organization to introduce gamification into its environment.
As education, health, business, non-profit, policy, and marketing entities embrace social media and gamification, Nuvana tools are the most flexible, sustainable and effective solution to the new demand. But as cool and sticky as Nuvana games may appear, what sets us apart is our desire to create authentic impact in the real world.
